A week long placement, 30th June – 3rd July 2026, at Sherwood Forest Hospitals for sixth form or postgraduate students from the local area looking to apply to study medicine at university. You should have the necessary GCSEs and predicted A level grades to allow you to apply to medical school.
This placement is limited to 10 places based on merit and will be subject to a selection process.
You will spend time observing in numerous departments. The week will include time with qualified doctors, medical students, nurses, laboratory staff and volunteers.
At the end of the week, you will be expected to present a short talk/PowerPoint presentation on your experiences to the group. There will be a prize for the best presentation. Certificates of attendance will only be issued to those who have attended the whole placement and delivered a presentation.
Applicants will be expected to attend the whole placement and deliver a presentation on the final day.

Must be:
1. Attending a local school/college: within a commutable distance of KMH
2. A Lower 6th Form student (year 12)
3. Have an interest in a Medical Career
4. Qualifications: GCSE’S at least a grade 6 in Maths, Sciences, and English. Taking at least one science A-level with Predicted grades of at least three B’s.
5. A letter from the student stating reasons for applying (i.e. interest in medicine), a recommendation letter from a teacher (with no evidence of previous misconduct)
6. Able to commute to KMH daily for the duration
